Paul’s Stargazing Art

Paul showcased his artistic talent during our spring Artist Gallery Event. The inspiration behind his painting was deeply personal, reflecting his transition to Sunnyhill’s group residence.

In his previous living arrangements, Paul didn’t feel he was in an environment conducive to thriving. However, the night sky provided solace, and he often gazed at the bright stars, finding comfort in their radiance. Upon moving to the Sunnyhill Independence Center, he discovered a community where he felt at ease and belonged. When working on the art project, Paul painted stars with the hope that they would bring brightness to others’ days.

Sunnyhill’s Activities Committee prioritizes creating events that provide opportunities for individuals like Paul to express themselves. Paul’s painting was deeply appreciated and transformed into wearable art, with him being recognized as a featured artist. This celebrates his artistic expression and underscores the significance of fostering a supportive and expressive community. Research indicates that art therapy can significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress by up to 73%.
